Backstory – A Delicate Balance

BACKSTORY is an evening of true stories, fiction, and poetry produced every other month at the Victory Theatre in Burbank, CA. From the Victory Theatre website:

Using the title of a classic stage play or movie as inspiration, storytellers and poets write poems and stories to be read aloud. Writers may pen a personal story inspired by the themes of the play. Some have written in the voice of a character from the play and told his or her back story. Some writers have used the words of the title for inspiration. Whatever the writer’s approach, BACKSTORY has consistently been a fascinating and eclectic night of theatre.

The next BACKSTORY evening is September 23, 2018, at 7:30pm; the theme is “A Delicate Balance.” The Victory Theatre Center is located at 3326 West Victory Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Featured artists for this night are Don Kingfisher Campbell, Kevin Herrmann, Hannah Cox, Maureen Kellen-Taylor, Christine No, and Bill Posley.

Please join us for an evening of true stories, poetry, and flights of fancy!

Unreal City – an immersive experience

This is the way the world ends…

Unreal City is a new, immersive theatrical experience created by 2Cents Theatre Company for the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2018.

Experience a time that could come to be if the state of the world continues in the direction it is now without change. UNREAL CITY is a fully immersive and interactive journey based on The Wasteland and other works of TS Eliot.

The Queen has announced a lottery and the thriving, protected Unreal City will be accepting new residents for the very first time! Even YOU have a chance to get out of this Wasteland, our world. Visit our government-approved, immigrant-friendly website and register today for your chance at CHANGE!

Your journey to Unreal City will include audience interaction, intimate settings both interior and exterior, and movement to different locations. This thought-provoking and challenging new experience includes explicit adult situations, including sexual content and violence. Audience mobility required.

**I highly recommend opting-in for email communication when you purchase your ticket in order to receive correspondence from the Queen’s “Hollow Men” prior to your entrance to Unreal City. This correspondence will include important information regarding your placement in Unreal City and check-in location for your arrival time. Essentially, the experience begins as soon as you buy your ticket…

Acting Out Ink Fest 2018

The 5th annual Acting Out Ink Fest is going down March 9-11 at the Hudson Theater in Hollywood.

22 plays.
22 directors.
56 actors.
22 female playwrights.
3 inspiring days of Acting Out INK!

I’ll be appearing in two shows this year:

DALTON by Dagney Kerr
Tom and Bertha are expecting their first child. Agreeing on a name for this child invokes a hilarious, heightened, passionate, colorful conversation that hopefully they can make it through and keep their marriage intact. This heartfelt comedy truly raises the question, “What’s in a name?”
Part of the “Living Giving Life” block on Friday at 2:00pm and Saturday at 2:00pm.

WE WILL NOT DESCRIBE THE CONVERSATION by Eugenie Carabatsos
Inspired by a missing scene in Crime and Punishment, we meet a massage therapist whose latest client has arrived with news that her estranged brother has committed a heinous act–murdering an old woman with an axe–and is nowhere to be found. As they try to piece together how this happened, their own dark desires and fears will inevitably be uncovered.
This is the Late Night Feature playing once on Saturday at 11:00pm.

I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then.

Lewis Carroll

The festival begins at 2:00pm on Friday, March 9, and continues every 90 minutes through Sunday night, for a total of 20 45-minute performances over the course of the weekend. The 2018 INK lineup includes 19 short plays all under 30 minutes plus 3 feature length one-acts. And there are many ways to experience INK Fest! Day passes, VIP packages & single show tickets are available.

ART will flood not just the theater, but also the street and the Hudson Cafe, serving wine & beer all weekend long. Don’t miss the opening night party Friday night after the Opening Night Feature sponsored by Fat Sal’s and Velvet Margarita! Or our inspiring closing night ceremony on Sunday, celebrating the weekend. There will be hundreds of artists of all kinds gathering all weekend long to share their ART, you’re not gonna want to miss a moment!

Inspecting Carol

Enter the world of a down-on-its-luck theatre company and their haphazard attempts at staging their annual production of A Christmas Carol. When rehearsals are at a standstill, a horrible actor shows up to audition for the show, and the company — assuming he must be an undercover inspector from National Endowment of the Arts — offers him a role. The company is wrong, of course, and thus sets the stage for a madcap, hilarious farce of holiday proportions!

Get in the holiday spirit with liquid spirits as you enjoy the show at the Three Clubs bar on Santa Monica and Vine in Hollywood. The show plays in the second room stage where a full bar is ready to serve your indulgences with libations throughout the night. Drink, laugh, and be merry during this comical farce as we try to not totally destroy your image of A Christmas Carol. No promises.

Inspecting Carol features the numerous talents of Kim Dalton, Alli Miller, Nicholas Rubando, Kate Bowman, Francesca Manzi, Jessica J’aime, Mitchell Turner, Juan Lozano, Chris Lanehart, Amber Bracken, Danny Fetter, Taylor Baker, Skip Pipo, and Kevin Herrmann.

Performances:
